Sandra Roberts finished 129th overall and 18th lady in a time of 43:31 for a new PB at the (presumably flat) Ely 10K. This result gave Sandra 2nd place in the Ladies 45-49 class. There were 579 finishers.

Gail Hardingham were the only lady Gazelle racing at the Groggy Doggy race organised on Boxing Day by the Bungay Black Dog club, a (very muddy) cross-country course of about 5 miles for two laps. Gail was 31st lady in 45:40. Pete Thompson and Kevin Hardingham were the other Gazelles running - Pete was 61st man in 37:13 and Kevin was 70th in 38:32. There were 209 finishers in the 2 lap race.

This year's 10 Mile Turkey Trot organised by Waveney Valley AC was held in icy conditions. Nonetheless, John Moore was 11th overall and 1st in the M50-54 class in a new PB of 1:03:48. Ady Waters was 14th overall and 2nd in the M40-44 class in 1:04:11, and Tim Woods was 42nd and 5th in the M50-55 class in 1:10:09. Sandra Roberts was the only lady Gazelle racing, 55th overall and 1st in the F45-49 in a new PB of 1:13:44.
Gazelles were 3rd in the Mens team prize (which covered all age categories - sadly no separate Vets prize).

Pete Johnson was the only Gazelle racing at the 5th race in the EACCL series held at Reepham. Pete finished 33rd overall and 2nd in the M55-59 class. Pete is now 7th overall in the series standings and leads the M55-59 class. The next race in the series is at Shouldham Warren, RAF Marham, on 11th January.

The annual awards were made at the Club's Christmas Dinner.
Many thanks to everyone who helped to run the 10th Anniversary Buxton 5K Fun Run. This year there were 170 finishers which is a good increase on last year. Two Gazelles raced - Ady Waters was 3rd in a time of 18:43, and Pete Thompson and his canine companion were 106th in 30:42.

Pete Johnson was 5th overall in the fourth EACCL cross-country run this week at UEA, finishing 1st in the M55-59 class. Pete Thompson was 30th overall and 4th in the same class. Andy Walter was 59th and 9th in the M40 class. Lucy Cooper was the only lady Gazelle, 13th lady overall and 3rd in the F40-44 class.
Pete Thompson is 8th overall in the series (1st M55-59), Pete Johnson 10th (2nd M55-59), Carol Betts is 13th (2nd F55-59) and Lucy Cooper 23rd (5th F40-44). The next race is on 14th December at Reepham.

At this year's Norwich Half Marathon, held in very blustery conditions, Carol Betts was 1st in the F55-59 class in a time of 1:48:58. Sandra Roberts was 2nd in the F45-49 class in 1:35:39. Gail Hardingham was 8th in the F50-54 class in 1:56:16 (new PB).
First Gazelle home was Mark Grubb, 82nd overall, in 1:26:49. Ady Waters finshed in 1:32:05, and Tim Woods in 1:33:36.
The other Gazelles racing were Matt Green, Stephen Sadd, Phil Whiting, Ian Edwards, Richard Gilham (new PB 1:43:53), Ian Woods, David Barclay, Jackie Yarrop, Cathy Forth and Carol Cooper (new PB 2:05:29).

Pete Johnson was 13th male overall and 1st in the M55+ class at the third race in the EACCL held at Whitlingham, organised by the Tri-Anglia club. Pete Thompson was 31st overall and 4th in the same class. Pete Thompson is now 7th in the series and Pete Johnson 18th.
Lucy Cooper was 11th lady overall and 3rd in the F40-44 class. Carol Betts was 13th overall and 1st in the F55+ class. Carol Betts is now 4th in the series. The next race is on 7th December at UEA.

Bungay Black Dog club organised both a 20K and a 10K on 6th November. In the 20K race, John Moore was the first Gazelle, finishing 12th overall and 1st in the M50-54 class in 1:20:16. Mark Grubb was two place behind in 1:21:02, with Ady Waters a further two places back in 1:21:46. Anne Ellen was the first lady Gazelle, in a time of 1:43:19, to take 2nd place in the F55-59 class. Carolyn Burrage was 3rd in the same class in 1:52:43 (all times are chip times). The other Gazelles racing were Tim Woods, Stephen Sadd and Andrew Burrage. John Mark Tim and Ady all ran PBs! There were 244 finishers.
In the 10K race Phil Hurr was the first Gazelle, taking 15th place overall and 3rd in the M50-59 class in 44:13. The other Gazelles racing in the 10K were Carolyn Poole, Helen Coyte-McKenzie and Christine Warren. There were 179 finishers.

Ian Thomas raced in the Marriotts Way Ultra, distance 36 miles, and came first in a new course record of 4:51. Ian was the only Gazelle competing. There were 21 runners doing the whole 36 miles and a further 38 doing 18 miles.

There was a very large turn out of Gazelles at the first Holt 10K that has taken the place of the North Norfolk 7. John Moore was the first Gazelle to finish, winning the M50-54 class in 37:51, and taking 10th place overall. Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle, winning the F45-49 class in a time of 44.17. Anne Ellen won the F55-59 class in 48:24. Pete Johnson won the M55-59 class in 38:42 taking 16th place overall. Ady Waters was 15th overall and Mark Grubb 17th.

Nigel Arnold was 2nd overall (and 1st in the Mens 50-59 class) at the Coltishall Jaguars Autumn 10K in a time of 35:46. Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle to finish taking 2nd place in the Ladies 40-49 class in 46:03. Carol Betts was 2nd in the Ladies 50-59 class in 49:40.

A solid performance from all the runners meant that Norfolk Gazelles finished 10th overall out of 57 teams and 5th in the Open class in the 2011 Round Norfolk Relay. Gazelles won bronze medal in the competition for ARC teams. The team's time was 23:13:33 at an average pace of 7:08 min/mile. Many thanks to all those who raced for the Club.
Nigel Arnold was the highest placed Gazelle finishing 2nd in Stage 8 in 43:43 for a pace of 5:48 mins/mile, and won the ARC prize for best age-graded performance. Matt Varley was 5th in Stage 3 in 37:39 at a pace of 6:32.

The County Half-Marathon Championships were held as part of the Wissey Half organised by Ryston Runners. The Mens Vets team of John Moore, Pete Johnson, Ian Thomas and Ady Waters won gold. John Moore was 2nd in the Mens 50-54 class in 1:24:47, 14th overall and a new PB. Pete Johnson was 2nd in the Mens 55-59 class in 1:26:12. Ian Thomas ran 1:29:42 followed one place behind by Ady Waters in 1:29:45 (new PB).
The other Gazelles racing were Cathy Forth, Carol Betts and Tim Woods. There were 191 finishers.

The 3rd Broadland 5K on 24th August also hosted the County 5K Championships. The Ladies Vets team of Tracy Stevenson, Anne Ellen and Gail Hardingham (new PB) came away with Gold medals. The published results for the Worstead Festival 5M are incomplete (I have some sympathy with the organisers having been involved with race results myself). As well as those on the NNBR website, Ian Thomas and Nigel Arnold were racing and posted good times, and there may have been other Gazelles of whom I have not heard. As published, John Moore was the first Gazelle to finish in 29:52 to finish 16th overall and I think 2nd in the M50+ class. Richard Gilham was next in 35:34 followed by Graham Hardingham. Tracy Stevenson was the first lady Gazelle to finish in 38:22.

The Mens team of Tim Woods, Graham Hardingham, Pete Johnson, Nigel Bullen, Ady Waters and Pete Thompson came 6th in the Mens Vets Team race and 21st overall in 2:58:24. There were 102 teams taking part.

This year's Alex Moore Memorial Relay was a great success with 43 teams entered. The race was won by the Gazelles Mens Vets team, Norfolk Gallops, of Pete Johnson, Mick Yaxley and Nigel Arnold, in a new course record of 1:15:53. The other four Gazelles teams racing were the Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Les Hill, Pete Thompson and Ady Waters; the H Factor - Gail Hardingham, Graham Hardingham and Kevin Hardingham; the Norfolk Broads - Kim Lubbock, Sherry Gowing and Jackie Harrop; and the Stragglers - Mel Derbyshire, Juni West and Louise Somner.

For the second week running, Nigel was the first Gazelle to finish, this time at the first in the NRR 5K series, relocated from Wroxham to Broadland; Nigel finished 7th overall and first in the Mens 50-54 class in 17:03. Ady Waters was 25th overall and 4th in the Mens 40-44 class in 18:10 (new PB by 61 secs). Ian Thomas finished in 19:04 and Tim Woods in 19:27 (new PB) to make up the Mens Vets team that won First Prize. Pete Johnson finished in 20:08 to take 2nd place in the Mens 55-59 class.
The first lady Gazelle to finish was Gail Hardingham in 25:36 (new PB). The other Gazelles running were Jeff Arden, Kevin Blackwell, Richard Gilham, Graham Hardingham, Kevin Hardingham and Michelle Waters (new PB). There were 223 finishers. The next race in the series is on 22nd June.

Mark Grubb went to Scotland to race in the 9th Edinburgh, alleged to be the second largest marathon in the UK. Mark finished in 3:12:39, 443rd out of 9,662 finishers.

Nigel Arnold was the first Gazelle at the last of the Yarmouth 5 Mile races, finshing 9th overall and 1st in the M50-59 class in 28:03. Ady Waters was the second Gazelle, 21st overall and 5th in the M40-49 class in 29:58. Ian Thomas was third Gazelle, 4th in the M50-59 class. These three therefore won the Mens Vets prize. The first Lady Gazelle was Jackie Harrop, finishing in 40:40.

Ady Waters was the first Gazelle in the second race in the Yarmouth 5 Mile three race series, finshing 19th overall, 6th in the M40-49 class, in 29:58 - a new PB by 1 second. Ian Thomas was 4th in the M50-59 class in 31:25. Anne Ellen was 2nd in the F55+ class in 38:08.
The other Gazelles racing were Tim Woods, Phil Whiting, Mark Grubb, Kevin Hardingham, Richard Gilham, Graham Hardingham, Pete Thompson, Carl Gilbert, Jeff Arden, Gail Hardingham, Les Hill, Audrey Batchelor, Rebecca Littleboy, Sherry Gowing and Julie London.

Tim Woods was the first Gazelle to finish at the Grand East Anglia 10K race, finishing 91st overall in 41:12. The first Lady Gazelle was Jackie Harrop in 50:40. Audrey Batchelor was 5th in the Ladies 50-59 class in 51:32 (all times chip times). The other Gazelles were Ian Woods, Stephen Corbould, Chris Carey, Basil Crisp, Helen Coyte-McKenzie, Carol Hardy, Marianne Saunders and Christine Warren. There were 1478 finishers.

Tracy Stevenson was the first Gazelle to finish this year's Trowse 10K, finishing 2nd in the Ladies 40-44 class in 48:18. Graham Hardingham ran 49:37. Chris Carey ran 54:02 to finish 3rd in the Mens 65+ class.

On a hot day, Pete Thompson was the first Gazelle at the Roger Wing 10K run by the Bungay Black Dog club, finishing 40th overall in 43:34. Gail Hardingham was the first and only lady Gazelle in the race, finishing in 59:08 for a PB. Kevin and Graham Hardingham were the other Gazelles racing.

Nigel Arnold was 4th overall and 1st in the M50 class in a time of 28:19 at the first of the Yarmouth 5 Mile series organised by Great Yarmouth Road Runners. Ady Waters was 13th (29:59, first time under 30 minutes so a new PB) and Matt Varley 14th. Jackie Harrop was the first Lady Gazelle in 40:33. The Gazelles team of Nigel Arnold, Ady Waters and Pete Thompson won the Mens Vets prize.
The other Gazelles racing were Jeff Arden, Steven Baldwin, Carol Cooper, Carl Gilbert, Richard Gilham, Sherry Gowing, Mark Grubb (30:47 for a new PB), Gail Hardingham (42:28, new PB), Kevin Hardingham, Les Hill, Rebecca Littleboy, Julie London and Phil Whiting, making 18 Gazelles out of a field of 211 finishers.

Audrey Batchelor was the only representative from Norfolk Gazelles at the Chase the Train race organised by North Norfolk Beach Runners. Audrey finished the 8.9 miles in 1:18:04.

Lisa Netto, Carolyn Poole and David Barclay flew the flag for Norfolk Gazelles at the Paris Marathon. David finished in 4:23:21, Lisa in 4:24:28 and Carolyn in 4:35:53. Carry said she would strongly recommend this race to anyone looking for a marathon to do.

Pete Johnson won 1st prize in the Mens 50-59 class and was 5th overall at the rescheduled Broadland Half, in a time of 1:23:59. Carol Cooper was the first lady Gazelle to finish, in 2:06:17, a new PB. The other Gazelles competing were Russell de Beer, Tim Woods and Ian Edwards.

There were prizes everywhere for Gazelles at the Jaguars Spring 10K. Nigel Arnold finished 2nd overall and won first prize in the Mens 50-59 class in 35:55. Audrey Batchelor won first prize in the Ladies 50-59 class in 51:14. Ady Waters was 13th overall in 38:03, winning second prize in the Mens 40-49 class (and new PB), and just ahead of Pete Johnson, 14th in 38:20, who won second prize in the Mens 50-59 class.
The other Gazelles racing were Carol Cooper, Lucy Cooper, Stephen Corbould, Richard Gilham, Sherrry Gowing, Graham Hardingham, Les Hill, Julie London, Kim Lubbock, Tracy Stevenson (first Lady Gazelle to finish, in 45:48), Pete Thompson, Michelle Waters, Phil Whiting (new PB) and Tim Woods, making 18 Gazelles out of 189 finishers.
As a result of the contributions from all those running, the Gazelles team of Nigel Arnold, Ady Waters and Pete Johnson won the Mens 40+ team competetion, and the team of Pete Thompson, Tim Woods and Richard Gilham were 8th. Norfolk Gazelles won the Ladies 40+ team competetion as well with Tracy Stevenson, Lucy Cooper and Audrey Batchelor, and the team of Michelle Waters, Carol Cooper and Kim Lubbock were 3rd.

Mark Grubb was the first Gazelle to finish in a high class field at the Norwich Half Marathon postponed from last November, with a time of 1:27:56, 84th overall. John Moore was the next Gazelle in 1:29:14, finishing 4th in the M50 class. Nigel Bullen was 6th in the M55 class in 1:41:30. Carol Betts was the first lady Gazelle in 1:46:26 and 4th in the F55 class. (All times from the gun, chip times obviously quicker or much quicker.)

Apologies for the late publication, but Norfolk Gazelles had two entries in the Bath Half Marathon. Russell de Beer finished in 1:35:00. Anne Ellen finished in 1:46:52 to gain 2nd place in the WV55 class.

Mark Grubb was the first Gazelle home in the Wymondham 20 Miler, finishing in 2:29:30 and 60th overall. Doug Bridges was 4 places behind in 2:31:29, and Jason Kelf was a further 2 places back in 2:32:03.
Carol Betts was the first Lady Gazelle in 2:46:55. The other Gazelles racing were Ian Edwards, Carolyn Poole and Christine Warren. There were 271 finishers.

Pete Johnson finished 13th overall and 1st in the Mens 55-59 class and Pete Thompson finished 30th overall and 5th in the Mens 50-54 class at the last round of the EACCL series run at RAF Barnham. Over the whole series, Pete Thompson was 21st overall and 5th in his class, Pete Johnson was 10th overall and 1st in his class. Pete Thompson ran in all 10 events in the series, and Pete Johnson in 7.

Pete Thompson was 5th in the Mens 50-54 class on 27th February at the last in the three race cross-country series at Horsford. This meant that Pete was 2nd overall in the Mens 50-54 class for the series. Apologies for the late reporting!

Apologies for not reporting sooner on the performance of Gazelles runners in our own race, the Valentine 10K. Ady Waters was the first Gazelle to finish, 11th overall and 2nd in the Mens 40-44 class, in 38:55. Pete Johnson was the next Gazelle, finishing 19th overall in 39:27, 2nd in the Mens 55+ class and missing out on 1st place by only two seconds.
Louise Somner was the first lady Gazelle, finishing in 55:28. Michelle Waters finshed in 57:00, a new PB by nearly six minutes. Juni West was the other Gazelle racing, finishing in 57:27.

There was a big turnout for the Reedham 10 Mile race organised by Gt Yarmouth & District AC, with 18 Gazelles racing.The first Gazelle to finish was Ady Waters, 23rd overall and 5th in the Mens 40-44 class, in a time of 1:03:27, a new PB. Pete Johnson was 24th overall, and won 1st prize in the Mens 55-59 class in 1:03:43. Mark Grubb was 33rd in 1:05:19, new PB, and Tim Woods was 42nd overall and 4th in the Mens 45-49 in 1:06:24, another new PB.
Lucy Cooper was the first lady Gazelle to finish, 4th in the Ladies 45-49 class in 1:17:18. Carol Betts won 1st prize in the Ladies 55-59 class in 1:18:48, Anne Ellen won 2nd prize and Carolyn Poole and Carolyn Burrage were 4th and 5th respectively, all in the same Ladies 55-59 class. Jackie Harrop was 6th in the Ladies 45-49 class.

The Norfolk Cross-Country Championships were held at UEA on 9th January. The Mens Masters team of Pete Johnson, Ady Waters, Tim Woods and Pete Thompson won Gold, and the Ladies Masters team of Tracy Stevenson, Anne Ellen and Carolyn Poole won Bronze. In addition, Pete Johnson was 3rd in the individual results for the Mens Masters. Jackie Harrop and Michelle Waters were also racing.
