Two Gazelles teams travelled to Ipswich to race in the Ekiden organised by Ipswich Jaffa club - Ekiden is a long distance relay race, in this case run over a full marathon distance by teams of six runners. Despite it being a hot day it was a good club event.
The Mens team of Pete Thompson, Phil Whiting, Tim Woods, Graham Hardingham, Ady Waters and Doug Bridges finished 20th overall and 11th in the Mens Open class in 2:56:33.
The Ladies team of Jackie Harrop, Julie London, Tracy Stevenson, Marianne Saunders, Anne Ellen and Audrey Batchelor finished 3rd in the Ladies Vets class in 3:35:47.
There were 84 teams taking part. Thanks to Marianne for organising and driving the minibus.

Anne Ellen was 1st in the Ladies 50-59 class at the 3.63 mile Mike Groves Run organised by Coltishall Jaguars, in 28:11. Pete Thompson was 2nd in the M50-59 class in 24:22, 17th overall.
Also racing were Jeff Arden, Audrey Batchelor, Carol Cooper, Steve Corbould, Graham Hardingham, Jackie Harrop, Les Hill, Julie London, Kim Lubbock and Marianne Saunders. There were 88 finishers.

Nigel Arnold posted 17:37 for this year's Lord Mayor's 5K, run in hot conditions, to finish 30th overall and 8th in the Mens 40+ class. Ady Waters was the second Gazelle representative, finshing in 19:40 for 67th place. There were 81 finishers.

On a very hot evening, Pete Thompson was 22nd overall, 4th in the M50 class, at the second of the Bungay Black Dog 10K Summer Series, in a time of 42:12. Christine Warren was 4th in the F45 class in 1:04:38. There were 101 finishers. The last race in the Series is on 4th August.

Carol Betts was 1st in the Ladies 55-59 class at the Humpty Dumpty 10K in 50:43. Pete Johnson was the first Gazelle to finish, 2nd in the Mens 55-59 and 20th overall, in 39:55. Jenny Burfoot was 2nd in the Ladies 60-64 in 1:07:16.
The other Gazelles racing were Ady Waters, Tim Woods, Steve Corbould, Chris Carey, Kevin Blackwell, Audrey Batchelor and Marianne Saunders. There were 366 fininshers.

Once more, Nigel Arnold was 10th overall and first in the M50-54 class at the second of the three race Wroxham 5K series, in a time of 16:59. Pete Johnson finished in 18:36 to claim second again in the M55-59 class (24th overall).
Tracy Stevenson was first lady Gazelle, in 21:54, finishing second (up from third in the first race) in the Ladies 40-44 class. The other Gazelles running were Jeff Arden, Carol Cooper, Richard Gilham, Graham Hardingham, Kevin Hardingham, Carol Hardy, Julie London, Kim Lubbock and Marianne Saunders. There were 228 finishers.

Audrey Batchelor raced in the 2010 Swaledale Marathon, a 23 mile fell run / challenge walk event, where competitors must navigate themselves and finish within 10 hours. Runners have to carry a pack with food, whistle, wet weather etc (http://www.swaledaleoutdoorclub.org.uk/majorevents/swaledalemarathon/index.htm). Audrey finished 240th in a time of 5hrs 44 mins, improving her PB by 45 minutes. The winner completed the course in 3:08, the last finisher in 9:26. There were 463 finishers.

Tim Woods was the first Gazelle at the Wymondham Midsummer 10 Miler, finishing 19th overall in a time of 1:09:14, and 2nd in the Mens 45-49 (beaten to the prize by a runner from Jog Scotland). David Barclay and Steve Corbould were the other Gazelles running, finishing 48th and 49th. There were 110 finishers.

Pete Thompson was 3rd in the M50 class at the first of the Bungay three race 10K summer series, in a time of 42:54, and 27th overall. Meanwhile, Christine Warren was 3rd in the F45 class in 1:02:08. There were 96 finishers. The next race in the series is on 30th June.

The Gazelles team of Steve Baldwin, Pete Johnson and Nigel Arnold won the 6th Alex Moore Relay in a time of 1:19:20, and also picked up the Mens Senior prize, whilst the ladies team of Jackie Harrop, Anne Ellen and Tracy Stevenson won the Ladies Masters prize in a time of 1:38:16. 27 teams ran.

Nigel Arnold was 10th overall and first in the M50-54 class at the first of the three race Wroxham 5K series, in a time of 17:04. Pete Johnson finished in 18:36 to claim second in the M55-59 class, and Del Bridges was the third Gazelle to finish, in 19:13.
Tracy Stevenson was first lady Gazelle, in 21:30, to finish third in the Ladies 40-44 class. Anne Ellen was third in the 50-54 class in 23:13.

Pete Johnson was the first Gazelle at the Dereham 10 Mile which also incorporated the County 10 Mile Championship. Pete finished in 63:10, 19th overall, and was placed 3rd in the M55-59 class in the County Championship. Carol Betts was the first lady Gazelle, finishing in 80:04, and placed 2nd in the F55-59 class in the County Championship.
The other Gazelles competing were Bevan Johnson, Tim Woods (PB of 1:7:21), David Barclay, Andrew Burrage, Carolyn Burrage and Marianne Saunders. There were 246 finishers.

Nigel Arnold was 1st in the M50 class once more at the third race in the Yarmouth 5 Mile series, finishing 9th overall in 27:48 (steadily improving his times each race). Audrey Batchelor was 2nd in the F55 class in 42:28 and Chris Carey was 2nd in the M60 class in 39:59. Lucy Cooper was the first lady Gazelle in 36:32.

John Moore finished the Halstead and Essex Marathon in 3:14:37, 8th M45 and 42nd overall, having done London two weeks ago in 3:16:24. John's new time means he now secures a place for next year's London Marathon as a 'Good for Age' entrant. As an aside, John recommends the Halstead as a friendly, well organised race along a beautiful course. There were 508 finishers.

Nigel Arnold was placed 1st in the M50-59 class at the Grand East Anglia Run 10K and 13th overall. His time of 34:47 was nearly 5 minutes better than the second runner in the class; Pete Johnson was 3rd in the class. Jackie Harrop was the first lady Gazelle. The Gazelles Ladies team was 6th and the Mens team was 7th.

Nigel Bullen finished the first Brighton Marathon in 4:08:48, placed 2224. Lisa Netto finished in 4:17:44, 3015th place. There were 7426 finishers, numbers swelled by those unable to get to Boston and Vienna.

Nigel Arnold was the first Gazelle at the first of the three race Yarmouth 5 Mile series, finishing 9th overall and 1st in the M50 category in 28:05. Tracy Stevenson was the first lady Gazelle, in 36:00 and placed 3rd in the F35 category.

Christine Warren was the first Gazelle to finish the 8.9 mile 'Chase the Train' race organised by North Norfolk Beach Runners, finishing in 1:30:28. Rebecca Littleboy was close behind, in 1:31:33. There were 84 finishers.

Pete Johnson won the Vets 50 class at the Bungay Roger Wing 10K on Good Friday in a time of 38:20, finishing 13th overall. Kevin Youngs won the Vets 60 class in 40:19, 23rd overall. Anne Ellen was 3rd in the Ladies Vets 45 class in 47:42. Pete Thompson and Les Hill also raced, finshing in 42:37 and 45:29 respectively. There were 228 finishers.

Bevan Johnson was the first Gazelle home at the Trowse 10K on Easter Sunday, finishing 63rd in 42:33. The other Gazelles racing were Richard Gilham and Chris Carey. There were 424 finishers.

The final race of the winter East Anglian Cross-Country series was held at RAF Barham. Pete Johnson was 9th overall and 2nd M50, Trevor Adcock was 2nd M60 and Pete Thompson was 4th M50 (all running for the Runners Centre).
In the final series standings, Pete Thompson ran in all nine races in the series and was top points scorer overall. Pete Johnson was 1st in the M50 class with Pete Thompson 2nd and Trevor Adcock was 1st in the M60 class.

Nigel Arnold was 5th overall and won the Norfolk County Championship 50-59 class at the Coltishall Spring 10K, in a time of 35:52. Tracy Stevenson won 2nd prize in the County Championships Ladies 40-49 class in 46:06, and Anne Ellen 2nd prize in the Ladies 50-59 class in 47:21.
The Gazelles team of Nigel Arnold, Pete Johnson, Tim Woods and Kevin Hardingham won the Mens Vets prize, and the Gazelles team of Tracy Stevenson, Anne Ellen and Jackie Harrop won the Ladies Vets prize.
Also racing were Audrey Batchelor, Stephen Corbould, Russell de Beer, Anthony Gordon-Gray, Julie London, Kim Lubbock and Phil Whiting, making 14 Gazelles out of a total of 181 finishers.

Carol and Marianne travelled to Stowmarket to run in the Joe Cox Half Marathon, with Carol finishing 13 seconds ahead of Marianne. There were 304 finshers.

Pete Johnson travelled to Devon to run in the Grizzly 2010 - "twentyish mudy, hilly, boggy, beachy miles of multiest-terrain running" (their description). Pete finished 164th in 3:14:58, 5th in the M55 class (there were some problems with the timing apparently). There were 1,492 finishers, last finisher's time 5:51:05.

Anne Ellen won the Ladies 45-54 class at the Broadland Half in a time of 1:45:42, 107th overall. Pete Johnson was 14th overall and 1st in the Mens 50-59 class in 1:24:22.
Two new members of the Club racing were Mark Grubb, who finished in 1:33:28, two places and 40 seconds behind Tim Woods who was placed 45th; and Stephen Sadd who finished in 1:42:19. The other Gazelles racing were Jason Kelf, Jon Kelf and Helen Coyte-McKenzie. There were 267 finshers.

Anthony Gordon-Gray finished in 3:51:15 at the Barcelona Marathon - 237th out of 624 in the M55-74 category and 5663 overall. There were 10,231 finishers. The intention was to find some spring sunshine, but Barcelona had its worst snow since 1962 the day after the race.

A select group of Gazelles had good results at the Reedham 10M despite the pouring rain (rescheduled from 31st January). Pete Johnson was 2nd in the Mens 55-59 and 9th overall, in 1:04:25. Sheridan Carver was 2nd in the Ladies 35-39 in 1:26:32, and Carol Hardy was 2nd in the Ladies 45-49 in 1:35:38. Tim Woods ran a new PB in 1:11:29, Richard Gilham ran a new PB in 1:19:46, and Marianne Saunders took a minute off her time for last year.

The eighth race of the series was held at Nowton Park, organised by St Edmunds Pacers. Pete Johnson was 3rd and 1st M50, Pete Thompson was 2nd M50 and Trevor Adcock was 1st M60.

At our own race held at Swanton Abbott, Tracy Stevenson won the Ladies 40-44 class in a time of 45:24. Carol Betts won the Ladies 55+ class in 52:09. Nigel Arnold was 7th overall and 2nd in the Mens 50-54 class in 35:39, and the team of Nigel, Pete Johnson and Ady Waters won the Male Masters team prize. Chris Carey also raced.

Kevin Youngs was the only Gazelle racing in the 5th race in the Ryston Runners cross-country series at Shouldham Warren. Run over 9K Kevin was 2nd in a time of 33:19. The last race is 6.5K on 21st March.

At the RAF Marham cross-country meet held at Shouldham Warren, Pete Johnson was 13th overall and 1st in the M50 class; Pete Thompson was 22nd overall and 1st in the M55 class. There were 44 finishers.
At RAF Wattisham on 27th January, Pete Thompson was 13th, 2nd in the M50 class (no M55 class this time) and Trevor Adcock was 14th, 1st in the M60 class. There were 26 finishers.
In the overall series standings, Pete Thompson is now 2nd and 1st in the M50 class. Pete Johnson is 14th. Trevor Adcock is 17th and 1st in the M60 class. Next race is 17th February at Bury St Edmunds.

Nigel Arnold returned from a long absence because of injury to be the first Gazelle home at the Wymondham 10K rescheduled from the 1st January. Nigel was 12th overall in 36:52 and 2nd in the Mens 50-54 class. Pete Johnson won the Mens 55-59 class finishing in 38:09 and 17th overall. Trevor Adcock was 2nd in the Mens 60+ in 42:29.
Tracy Stevenson was the first lady Gazelle to finish, coming 2nd in the Ladies 40-44 class in 45:02 and taking 1 minute 29 off her PB. Tracy, Carol Betts and Jackie Harrop won the Ladies Vets team prize.

Tracy Stevenson won the Ladies 40/44 class at the second Horsford Cross-Country organised by NRR in 32:46. Gazelles also triumphed in the Mens 60+, with Kevin Youngs winning in 38:07 and Trevor Adcock second in 40:51. Pete Thompson was 4th in the Mens 50/54 in 40:38.
The course had to be shortened because of ice, so respect to everybody for competing despite the conditions.
