News has just come through that in addition to Ian Thomas' success in the Norfolk Postal Marathon, Anne Ellen won Bronze in the Ladies 55-59 class for her time of 4:05:41 in the London Marathon.

There was a big turnout from the Club for the Reedham 10 Mile organised by Gt Yarmouth & District AC and the first race in this year's Runner's Centre Grand Prix series. Mark Grubb was the leading Gazelle finishing 33rd overall in 1:03:39. Pete Johnson was the second Gazelle, 39th in 1:04:38 and taking first place in the M55-59 class. Ian Thomas was 51st and second in the M50-54 class in 1:06:06 and Tim Woods was 5th in the same class in 1:09:28.
Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle in 1:10:20, first in the F45-49 class and 95th overall. Lucy Cooper was second lady Gazelle in 1:14:33. Carol Betts finished in 1:18:29 to take 5th place in the F55-59 class.
The other Gazelles racing were Andrew Burrage, Carolyn Burrage, Anne Ellen, Richard Gilham, Anthony Gordon-Gray, Carol Hardy, Julie London, Carolyn Poole, Stephen Sadd, Marianne Saunders, Tracy Stevenson, Andy Walter and Michelle Waters. There were 406 finishers.

The seventh race of this series was held at Marham again because Wattisham were unable to host the event. Pete Johnson was the first Gazelle finishing 8th overall and 2nd in the M55-59 class. Pete Thompson was 25th and 4th in the M55-59 class.
Lucy Cooper was again the only lady Gazelle, 5th overall and 2nd in the F40-44 class.
Pete Johnson is now 10th overall in the series standings and leads the M55-59 class. Pete Thompson is 15th overall and 4th in the M55-59 class. Lucy Cooper is 15th overall in the series standings and 4th in the F40-44 class.
The next race in the series is at Easton on 8th February.

Pete Johnson was the first Gazelle at the 6th race in the EACCL series held at RAF Marham finishing 7th overall and 1st in the M55-59 class. Pete Thompson was 41st and 3rd in the M55-59 class. Welcome back to the Club for Trevor Adcock who was 4th in the M60-69 class.
Lucy Cooper was the only lady Gazelle, 3rd overall and 2nd in the F40-44 class.
Pete Thompson is now 10th overall in the series standings and still leads the M55-59 class. Pete Johnson is 16th overall and 2nd in the M55-59 class. Lucy Cooper is 17th overall in the series standings and 3rd in the F40-44 class.
The race planned for Wattisham is now cancelled so the next race in the series is at Easton on 8th February.

Lucy Cooper was the only lady Gazelle at the Norfolk Cross-country County Champioships finishing 9th in the Vet Female class.
Pete Johnson was the first male Gazelle finishing 8th in the Vet Male class. Ady Waters was 10th, Pete Thompson 19th and Tim Woods 23rd. Only one team prize was awarded in the Vet Male class although there were three prizes in the Vet Female class.

Ady Waters was the first Gazelle to finish at the Wymondham New Year's Day 10K, 26th overall and 5th M40-44, in a time of 38:28. Pete Johnson finished 37th overall in 39:35 to take 1st place in the M55-59 class. Tim Woods was 69th, 6th M50-54, in 41:51. The team of Ady, Pete and Tim took 3rd place in the Mens Vets prizes.
Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle in 43:48, taking 94th overall and 2nd in the F45-49 class. The team of Sandra, Carol Betts and Michelle Waters were 4th in the Ladies Vets competition.
The other Gazelles running were Richard Gilham, Steve Corbould and Anthony Gordon-Gray. There were 434 finishers. All times are gun times rather than based on the chip provided so some people will have run faster than the results suggest!

Sandra Roberts finished 129th overall and 18th lady in a time of 43:31 for a new PB at the (presumably flat) Ely 10K. This result gave Sandra 2nd place in the Ladies 45-49 class. There were 579 finishers.

Gail Hardingham were the only lady Gazelle racing at the Groggy Doggy race organised on Boxing Day by the Bungay Black Dog club, a (very muddy) cross-country course of about 5 miles for two laps. Gail was 31st lady in 45:40. Pete Thompson and Kevin Hardingham were the other Gazelles running - Pete was 61st man in 37:13 and Kevin was 70th in 38:32. There were 209 finishers in the 2 lap race.

This year's 10 Mile Turkey Trot organised by Waveney Valley AC was held in icy conditions. Nonetheless, John Moore was 11th overall and 1st in the M50-54 class in a new PB of 1:03:48. Ady Waters was 14th overall and 2nd in the M40-44 class in 1:04:11, and Tim Woods was 42nd and 5th in the M50-55 class in 1:10:09. Sandra Roberts was the only lady Gazelle racing, 55th overall and 1st in the F45-49 in a new PB of 1:13:44.
Gazelles were 3rd in the Mens team prize (which covered all age categories - sadly no separate Vets prize).

The annual awards were made at the Club's Christmas Dinner.
Many thanks to everyone who helped to run the 10th Anniversary Buxton 5K Fun Run. This year there were 170 finishers which is a good increase on last year. Two Gazelles raced - Ady Waters was 3rd in a time of 18:43, and Pete Thompson and his canine companion were 106th in 30:42.

Pete Johnson was 5th overall in the fourth EACCL cross-country run this week at UEA, finishing 1st in the M55-59 class. Pete Thompson was 30th overall and 4th in the same class. Andy Walter was 59th and 9th in the M40 class. Lucy Cooper was the only lady Gazelle, 13th lady overall and 3rd in the F40-44 class.

At this year's Norwich Half Marathon, held in very blustery conditions, Carol Betts was 1st in the F55-59 class in a time of 1:48:58. Sandra Roberts was 2nd in the F45-49 class in 1:35:39. Gail Hardingham was 8th in the F50-54 class in 1:56:16 (new PB).
First Gazelle home was Mark Grubb, 82nd overall, in 1:26:49. Ady Waters finshed in 1:32:05, and Tim Woods in 1:33:36.
The other Gazelles racing were Matt Green, Stephen Sadd, Phil Whiting, Ian Edwards, Richard Gilham (new PB 1:43:53), Ian Woods, David Barclay, Jackie Yarrop, Cathy Forth and Carol Cooper (new PB 2:05:29).

Pete Johnson was the only Gazelle to make the journey to Essex for the Chelmsford 10K, finishing 34th overall and 3rd in the M50+ class in 37:52. There were 329 finishers.

Lisa was the only Gazelle racing at the Luton Marathon where she ran strongly to finish in 3:52:50, finally beating the 4 hour barrier, and taking 4th place in the Ladies 35-39 class.

Graham Hardingham was the first Gazelle to finish at the Adnams Southwold 10K, in 48:41. Anne Ellen finished in 49:26 and Chris Baldwin in 54:30.

Pete Johnson was 2nd in the M55-59 class at the second of the Ryston cross-country series finishing the 9K course in 32.41. Pete was the only Gazelle competing. The next race in the series is on 18th December.

Bungay Black Dog club organised both a 20K and a 10K on 6th November. In the 20K race, John Moore was the first Gazelle, finishing 12th overall and 1st in the M50-54 class in 1:20:16. Mark Grubb was two place behind in 1:21:02, with Ady Waters a further two places back in 1:21:46. Anne Ellen was the first lady Gazelle, in a time of 1:43:19, to take 2nd place in the F55-59 class. Carolyn Burrage was 3rd in the same class in 1:52:43 (all times are chip times). The other Gazelles racing were Tim Woods, Stephen Sadd and Andrew Burrage. John Mark Tim and Ady all ran PBs! There were 244 finishers.
In the 10K race Phil Hurr was the first Gazelle, taking 15th place overall and 3rd in the M50-59 class in 44:13. The other Gazelles racing in the 10K were Carolyn Poole, Helen Coyte-McKenzie and Christine Warren. There were 179 finishers.

Ian Thomas raced in the Marriotts Way Ultra, distance 36 miles, and came first in a new course record of 4:51. Ian was the only Gazelle competing. There were 21 runners doing the whole 36 miles and a further 38 doing 18 miles.

There was a very large turn out of Gazelles at the first Holt 10K that has taken the place of the North Norfolk 7. John Moore was the first Gazelle to finish, winning the M50-54 class in 37:51, and taking 10th place overall. Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle, winning the F45-49 class in a time of 44.17. Anne Ellen won the F55-59 class in 48:24. Pete Johnson won the M55-59 class in 38:42 taking 16th place overall. Ady Waters was 15th overall and Mark Grubb 17th.

Nigel Arnold was 2nd overall (and 1st in the Mens 50-59 class) at the Coltishall Jaguars Autumn 10K in a time of 35:46. Sandra Roberts was the first lady Gazelle to finish taking 2nd place in the Ladies 40-49 class in 46:03. Carol Betts was 2nd in the Ladies 50-59 class in 49:40.
Ady Waters was 21st, Ian Thomas 23rd and Pete Johnson 25th with 15 seconds covering these three runners. The other Gazelles racing were Ian Edwards, Michelle Waters and Tim Woods. There were 146 finishers.

A solid performance from all the runners meant that Norfolk Gazelles finished 10th overall out of 57 teams and 5th in the Open class in the 2011 Round Norfolk Relay. Gazelles won bronze medal in the competition for ARC teams. The team's time was 23:13:33 at an average pace of 7:08 min/mile. Many thanks to all those who raced for the Club.
Nigel Arnold was the highest placed Gazelle finishing 2nd in Stage 8 in 43:43 for a pace of 5:48 mins/mile, and won the ARC prize for best age-graded performance. Matt Varley was 5th in Stage 3 in 37:39 at a pace of 6:32.

The County Half-Marathon Championships were held as part of the Wissey Half organised by Ryston Runners. The Mens Vets team of John Moore, Pete Johnson, Ian Thomas and Ady Waters won gold. John Moore was 2nd in the Mens 50-54 class in 1:24:47, 14th overall and a new PB. Pete Johnson was 2nd in the Mens 55-59 class in 1:26:12. Ian Thomas ran 1:29:42 followed one place behind by Ady Waters in 1:29:45 (new PB).
The other Gazelles racing were Cathy Forth, Carol Betts and Tim Woods. There were 191 finishers.
